The International Convention Centre (ICC) is a key user of the Birmingham District Energy Scheme. Phares Engineering Ltd working in partnership with ENGIE have provided additional variable ventilation systems to the main engine plant areas. The Plant features tri-generation, producing heat, electricity and chilled water and makes use of highly efficient large-scale CHP technology, using conventional boilers for ‘top up’, standby and increased resilience. Council buildings connected to the scheme include: Birmingham Council House, Town Hall, Library of Birmingham, REP Theatre, National Indoor Arena. The Ventilation system as installed will increase the already saved 12,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
